STORY:

Hello... is a tale about the events that happen one night at a call center. Told through the views of the protagonist, Shyam, it is a story of almost lost love, thwarted ambitions, absence of family affection, pressures of a patriarchal set up, and the work environment of a globalized office.

Shyam is losing his girl friend because his career is going nowhere as he trudges his way around in a call center. His girl friend, Priyanka, is also an agent like him at the call canter who is about to be snatched by an NRI techno geek.

There is also the aspiring model, Esha, who is hopping for the break that seems to be always already eluding her and the man about town, Vroom, who is into well, things. The housewife, Radhika, who is constantly at the receiving end of her mother-in-law and a beleaguered grandfather, Military Uncle, who has been barred from interacting with his grandchild make up the rest of the call agents who see their worlds crumbling around them as the decisions of right sizing are conveyed by Bakshi, the boss.

It is a night when dreams will finally crumble. Or will it? For there is that call from God. Narrated as a tale within a tale as a beautiful woman meets the auteur narrator and promises him a story on the condition that he has to narrate it further, Hello, based on Chetan Bhaqat's one night @ the call Center, is the one remarkable story from Tales from a Thousand and One globalizing, urban, Indian Nights.

Southall United Football Club is facing its deepest crisis ever. Bankrupt, with no stars, no coach, no sponsors, no takers, no spectators and most importantly no owner. After the city council sends an eviction notice, it’s the last chance to save the ground, the club and their honor. Now, Southall United must win the Combined Counties Football League in their otherwise last season. One man's dream takes the team on a remarkable journey in this football-themed drama. Shaan (Arshad Warsi) takes up the challenge to save the club from extinction. After a disesteemed ex-player, Tony Singh (Boman Irani) joins them as the coach, in spite of the being sniggered, and laughed at, he and Shaan, work to gather the worn out team. Its hard work as they approach their first game.

Sunny Bhasin (John Abraham) dreams to play for England crashes after his club does not select him. The reason is apparently not his game but the color of his skin. Sunny himself had always laughed at his own community and Southall United. Sunny and Shaan could not ever see eye to eye. Adding to their personal chaos is Shaan’s cousin sister Rumana (Bipasha Basu) who is in love with Sunny. Tony manages to convince Sunny to play for Southall United. It takes a while before Shaan and the team warms up to Sunny. With Sunny joining Southall United the team gradually starts climbing the points tally. The city council is worried.

The only goal that the pragmatic Sunny has is winning- with all of the material perks and fame that he can acquire. He is more interested in being noticed himself, than Southall United winning the cup. Johny Bakshi (Dalip Tahil) a commentator and a frontman of the council, plan to lure Sunny away from Southall United. Sunny will need to sacrifices everything he believed in for something which he never believed. His love for Rumana, his relationship with his father and his life are at stake.

Set within this is a contemporary story of the Asian community in UK told through the dynamic prism of professional sports. Competitive football only provides the action-packed backdrop, as the story takes an intimate look at a cross-section of Indians, Pakistanis and other Asians living in England.

Synopsis

From racy America to his hometown in the interiors of India, it was a long journey indeed for Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja). But nothing could match the mind-boggling journey that now lay in front of him. For it was a journey into an astounding maze in which each step meant mystery, discovery, surprise, shock and revelation.

With open arms, his large extended family welcomes the US based Siddharth & his newly wed wife Avni (Vidya Balan) when they come home. But what the family resists is Siddharth's insistence on staying in his royal ancestral mansion during his stay. His uncle Badrinarayan Chaturvedi (Manoj Joshi) particularly has no qualms about voicing his displeasure. For it was that very mansion that held in its realm, a deadly secret that had repeatedly destroyed the family for generations.

The scientifically inclined Siddharth pays no heed and starts staying at the palatial mansion with Avni who is equally modern in her thinking... But soon enough the couple is forced to rethink their decision... Unforeseen happenings, mysterious elements, horrific indications and life threatening incidents swarm their path. Suddenly it becomes a situation that urgently had to be dealt with before it got too late.

Siddharth instinctively finds the solution in his dynamic Doctor friend Aditya (Akshay Kumar). When Dr. Aditya finds his way into the mansion, he is a man on a mission. He just had to find the cause of all the upheaval before the effects caused more harm than could be imagined... Where did the answer lie??? The Scientific world or the Mystical one??? Aditya (Shahid Kapur), a defeated industrialist, is even more broken as the girl he loves is getting married. Unable to muster up the courage to return home, he drifts out of the gathering and aimlessly boards a train, bounding away into the night.

As destiny would have it, on the train he meets Geet (Kareena Kapoor) – a beautiful but annoyingly talkative girl who is leaving Mumbai to go her hometown – Bhatinda (Punjab). Later, she has plans of eloping with her boyfriend.

Geet irritates Aditya to the point of getting him to leave the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she ends up missing it and the two find themselves stranded on a desolate station with no luggage or money.

Begins the idyllic journey through the exuberant North Indian heartland in which this odd couple will make their way through buses and taxis and camel-carts, crossing Highways and deserts and lakes, meeting all kinds of people, to reach her house in Punjab ……. On arrival, Geet’s family mistakes the two for lovers. Before this misconception can be cleared, Geet escapes to her boyfriend in Manali. Aditya leaves with her, confirming the suspicion that they are lovers. In Manali, Aditya feels empowered to return to Mumbai and resurrect his ailing business.

Life takes a positive turn and Aditya begins to do well. One day Geet’s family who think that she is with him confronts Aditya. He is shocked to learn that Geet has not returned home. He takes it upon himself to find her. He finally tracks her down in a Himalayan town and begins another journey to reach Bhatinda and flow into the colors and conceptions of a loud and happy North Indian family!

How their separate journeys become one, forms the destination of JAB WE MET, a beautiful and captivating saga of made-for-each-other love. Lilting, musical, amusing and packed with mischievous contrivances – this breezy fun-filled romantic comedy set in cultural North India looks like it’s ready to recreate the magical era of the 90s, in the form of Aditya and Geet, being essayed by real-life lovebirds, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

Rani Mukherji as Badki
Badki is a fun-loving and happy-go-lucky girl, drunk on the masti of Banaras, but with eyes as crystal clear and innocent as the waters of the sacred Ganga. Her life is full of laughter and the love of her family. When problems crop up, she takes them in her stride, not letting them tarnish her smile. So when the family falls upon bad days, and her studies are stopped, she just girds her loins and helps her mother to keep things going. Protective to a fault, she shields her younger sister Chutki from the problems dogging the family. She is deeply hurt though, when her father keeps wishing she was born a son. Even when the going gets tougher, and she finds herself battling the hard and ruthless city of Mumbai, she does not buckle under, but faces it all with exemplary courage. And she does not hesitate in paying the highest price to support her family.

Konkona Sen Sharma as Chutki
Chutki is a spunky spirited and crazy young girl, with eyes that sparkle with mischief. Playing pranks on her hapless victims, teasing her sister Badki, and harassing her parents are her favourite pastimes, but she also loves her family with a fierce passion. Innocent and protected from the harsh circumstances of her family by Badki and their mother, she revels in their love. Gifted with a sharp and intelligent mind, she is unaware of the sacrifices Badki is making to keep her education going. When she moves to the big city, she finds a wide open sky to open her wings and soar. She excels at work, and actually finds a man who loves her with all her madness and eccentricities.

Jaya Bachchan as Sabitri
Sabitri is the backbone and anchor of the Sahay family. She bears the brunt of every crisis the family encounters. She is dismayed as she sees her husband turn bitter with his failures and turn away from the family. She works hard, making both ends meet, protecting her daughters, facing up to menacing relatives. But her husband's illness is the last straw that breaks her spirit. Alone, bewildered, she leans hard on Badki, her only solace. In her crisis, she does not realize when Badki has reached her own breaking point. And she is the only one who bears the burden of the terrible knowledge of Badki's enormous sacrifices. Sabitri tries hard to ferret out a future for her family from the hard unyielding circumstances of her life.

Anupam Kher as Shivshankar Sahay
Shivshankar Sahay is a retired professor of Economics who has turned bitter and pessimistic after his pension was unfairly suspended by the college. Instead of fighting against the resulting poverty, he has accepted defeat, and hopes that the numerous lottery tickets he buys will land him a fortune that will bring back the glorious days of the past. He vents his frustration on his family, and particularly his elder daughter Badki, as he believes that things would have been different had she been born a son. He strongly opposes Badki's departure for the big city, predicting that she will fail to achieve anything. All this comes back to him when he discovers the enormity of the struggle and sacrifice that Badki had to go through.

Kunal Kapoor as Vivaan
Vivaan is a living embodiment of Indian youth today. Irreverent, iconoclastic, totally laidback, yet very good at what he does. He is rude, messy, and unfazed about his lack of manners. Full of wit and humor, he loves a laugh, wherever and by whichever means he can get it. Typical of the urban youth, he does not have a clue as to how the rest of India lives. So when Chutki joins his advertising agency, he dismisses her as a small town girl. But Chutki's spunk, spirit, and insights blow him away. She matches him barb for barb, retort for retort and he finds that he is head over heels in love. Vivaan and Chutki's chemistry is so potent; they set off sparks when they are in the same room. For her, he is willing to go to the end of the world, or on his knees.

Rohan is a highly educated and world-renowned attorney, sought after throughout the world for his expertise. However, inside this suave and smart young man resides a mischievous, impish spirit. When he encounters Badki this spirit takes over completely. Bowled over totally by Badki's innocence and guilelessness, he is intrigued by her homegrown wisdom and her deep faith too. This chance encounter leads to a bit of stolen time for both, when the child inside Badki makes her acquaintance with the imp inside Rohan. They forget the rest of the world as they revel in each other's company. What is happening between the two is like a flower just beginning to blossom. But the harsh realities of their lives intervene, and the magic is shattered. Rohan is determined to get to the crux of things, but will he be able to handle what he discovers?

Synopsis

Badki and Chutki live a fun-filled life in Banaras, playing pranks, sneaking off to see a forbidden mujra, and soaking up all the excitement that goes on the ghats of the Ganga. Badki is aware that the family is in dire straits, but she and her mother protect Chutki at all costs. When things get worse, Badki decides to go to Mumbai and seek a living for the family. Alone and unsupported in the midst of the urban jungle of Mumbai, Badki battles with dark forces, keeping her focus on her purpose to support her family and continue Chutki's education.

She deliberately morphs into someone else, leading a secret life full of murky compromises. When Chutki comes to Mumbai to work, things take a dramatic turn. Badki's life turns into a minefield, as she has to hide her secrets from Chutki. Chutki finds success at work, and love that delights her heart. Badki finds the magic of love, but lets it slip away before it can blossom, as she believes it's not in her destiny. She battles menace and blackmail alone, not letting these dark shadows fall on Chutki or her family.

But her dual life is revealed, and the two sisters are face to face, in a confrontation neither had expected. And when love beckons Badki again, the whole family is thrown in a tumultuous storm. Everything threatens to explode in their faces, destroying all of them.

Decades back Dharmendra starred in Hrishikesh Mukherjee directed Guddi, as himself. The film's theme revolved around a girl, played by Jaya Bhaduri who was fascinated by the superstar. More than 35 years later, Bobby Deol too enacts a similar role, though this time, the girl is replaced by a young boy, aptly named 'Nanhe', who is his die hard fan and lives in a belief that one day he would come face to face with his screen idol.

Samir Karnik the director debuted with 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na' a few years back. 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' has lyrics by Sameer and music by Himesh Reshammiya. With the film's setting in Rajasthan, one expects a different kind of soundtrack from Reshammiya which is uncharacteristic of the kind of compositions he has been churning out for over two years now. Well, this doesn't quite happen as Reshammiya does try to impart the desert flavor in some of the compositions, though with lesser results.

The first song of the album, 'Nanhe Yaar', is one of the best created songs by Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer in recent times; pure, unadulterated and immersed with selfless emotions about friendship between the superstar and the child. 'Nanhe Yaar' is a hardcore Indian track that has melody as its strong point. One can't get tired of hearing the soulful voice of Sonu Nigam in the song which validates Reshammiya's claims, that the singer is easily the best in the business.

Now that's the kind of music which one expects Reshammiya to whip up more often since it breaks away from the monotony and gives a listener a beautiful number to hum around. In fact on a closer look, one almost feels that 'Nanhe Yaar' is a track composed for a JP Dutta film due to its obvious desert feel, coupled with authentic Indian look and feel.

Well, one can't keep Himesh Reshammiya, ‘the singer’, out of action for long, isn't it? This is why the very second song in the album, 'Ulfat', has Reshammiya doing a solo. There are shades of 'Tadap' [Darling] as well as 'Mehfuz' [Apne] in this rock track which is a complete antithesis to the melody of 'Nanhe Yaar'. Reshammiya sings the song in extreme high pitch to suit the concert settings of the track but the results aren't endearing enough.

It isn't a bad composition but still 'Ulfat' doesn't turn out to be the song that you want to keep in your favorites list for long. A song like this warrants a 'remix version' and Himesh gives us one later in the album. To give him credit, by the time you have heard the original track a few times and moved on to the remix version, you sort of get a hang of the composition and don't mind it much, in spite of a sense of deja vu.

Vineet and Jayesh Gandhi, two singers who have repeatedly been given a chance to sing by Himesh Reshammiya, are back in action with 'Kesariya'. Opening of 'Kesariya' by Jayesh Gandhi is based on the popular Rajasthani folk track and while the flavor remains consistent throughout the track, Vineet aided by Sameer's lyrics gives a different touch to the 'antaras'. His voice bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Sonu Nigam which makes one wonder if Sonu himself may have been better suited to croon the number.

Nevertheless, Vineet does a decent job while rendering this track, which after 'Nanhe Yaar' is soothing yet again; though not with similar long lasting appeal. Towards the second half of the song, Reshammiya even adds a bit of jazz to the proceedings though it is there only for a short while. Overall an average situational track which should appear as a part of film's background score.

After 'Ulfat' there is yet another high-on-rhythm fast paced track which arrives in the form of 'Ranjhana'. In the very first listening, this Himesh Reshammiya rendered solo, borders on being annoying, courtesy the high bass beats that seem to be the handwork of a small town DJ who could well be applying his skills at marriage processions. The arrangements are poor which act as a turn off to begin with.

Once you have settled down to this fact, the overall composition isn't too difficult to digest, though one would have expected the final copy of the song to have been more carefully designed. The 'remix version' makes an appearance too, but after hearing the original there is hardly any interest that remains towards hearing it with additional beats .

Himesh's voice continues to blaze on from the music system as he sings yet another track 'Lamha Lamha'. The sound of 'dhoom pichaka dhoom dhoom' is straight out of Anu Malik's 'Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam' [Duplicate] and though one doesn't mind that much, it is Sunidhi Chauhan who turns out to be the biggest culprit in the song. She tries to sing the track differently in a low husky mode but the final result turns out to be such a drag, that one wonders how the song was accepted in the first place?

Supposedly a love song, 'Lamha Lamha' doesn't quite work in spite of an attempted collaboration of rhythm, melody and shades of Indian classical feel. For the only duet in the album, it is a downer though the 'remix version' does promise a decent outing if presented well as a promotional music video.

In the end what remains with the listener after hearing 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' is the title song 'Nanhe Yaar'. This is surprising though since in an album dominated by Himesh Reshammiya sung songs; it is Sonu Nigam who ends up making the most impact. Remaining tracks range from being below average to average which doesn't quite make 'Nanhe Jaisalmer' the kind of album which Reshammiya would wish to flaunt around five years down the line.

Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag

Ram Gopal Varma was right. From not even a single angle does his 'Aag' resemble all time 'masala' classic 'Sholay'. Though 31st August would finally reveal that how far does his 'tribute' to the classic work, one look at the songs currently being on at the small screen prove that the director has gone off tangent when it comes to music of the film. With sole exception of 'Mehbooba Mehbooba', there is no 'Yeh Dosti', no 'Koyi Haseena', no 'Holi Ke Din' and no 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' in the album, hence making it quite obvious that RGV has decided to make RGV Ki Aag solely on his own terms!

With his in-house team of composers and lyricists like Amar Mohile, Prasanna Shekhar and Nitin Raikwar along with Ganesh Hegde, DJ Amyth, Shabbir Ahmed, Sajid-Farhad and Sharim-Momin, RGV packages RGV Ki Aag with nine tracks. Well, the packaging comes with quite a few holes!

While Helen's version of 'Mehbooba' in the original Sholay was all fun and enchanting, it tends to get dark once Urmila's gets her passionate act in place for Ganesh Hegde composed and choreographed version. Credit must be given to Ganesh and lyricist Shabbir Ahmed for completely redesigning the look and feel of the song though one can't really say that the final version turns out to be an ultimate attempt.

Different it does sound from the original but not necessarily better. The basic rhythm is thankfully intact which keeps the interest alive in 'Mehbooba' while Sunidhi Chauhan along with Sukhwinder Singh do a decent job too to retain the high voltage drama that befits the song's situation. Amitabh Bachchan too makes an intermittent appearance though rather than singing he just narrates a few lines at places.

As expected DJ Amyth's 'remix version' of the song takes around a couple of minutes to set the pace for creating a club feel. However once the task is accomplished, the song continues to move at its own high pace with zero respite whatsoever.

Remember 'Yaaron Sun Lo Zara' from RGV's own Rangeela? A song that has it's tune set in the same style, though with a different theme and situation setting, 'Ruk Ja' is what you call a 100% authentic 'tapori' track. What sets the song apart from numerous other 'tapori' songs is it's western rhythm with some catchy beats to boast by Amar Mohile.

Lyrically there isn't much that you carry home as Sajid-Farhad build up a 'ched-chaad' mood though Vinod Rathod and Sunidhi Chauhan sing the track with a kind of forceful punch which could well go down well with the characters of Ajay Devgan and Nisha Kothari on whom the song is choreographed. Will the song be remembered 3 months down the line? No! But as a part of the film, it won't be a bad watch for those 5 minutes!

'Holi' starts with the famous phrase - 'Holi Kab Hai...Kab Hai Holi', the difference being that instead of Amjad Khan, it is Sudesh Bhonsle (for Amitabh Bachchan) mouthing it this time around. Composed by Prasanna Shekhar and written by Sharim Momin, 'Holi' has Ravindra Upadhyaye, Shweta Pandit, Farhad Bhiwandiwala and Shreya Ghoshal teaming up for the song.

A 'chalu' number at best, 'Holi' has good rhythm which should keep your interest alive in the proceedings but that's about it. There is nothing about it which would make it go down in the history books as a worthy addition to 'holi' tracks!

After all the rhythm and beats comes a sensual number 'Cha Raha' which has been written and composed by RGV regular Nitin Raikwar. The song seems to be almost based on the same template as that of 'Makhmali Ye Badan' which was created for RGV produced Road. The pacing as well as overall treatment combined with the style of rendition by Vinod Rathod and Shweta Pandit is quite similar in feel.

To add to it, even choreography and picturisation is done in a similar fashion with the only difference being that instead of Vivek Oberoi and Antara Mali, the couple in the thick of action comprises of Ajay Devgan and Nisha Kothari. This one should set the temperatures soaring.

Remember the haunting background score that welcomed Gabbar Singh whenever he came on the frame in Sholay? The same piece is heard again at the beginning of title song 'Hai Aag Yeh' which is situational at best. The area where it works is to get the action masala flavor of the 70s and the early 80s as the orchestra is purposefully set in the same mould to revive nostalgia.

Later the same track which has music by Amar Mohile and lyrics by Sharim Momin is heard as’theme music' sans any singer coming behind the mike. In fact coming together of saxophones in this theme music version helps in pumping the excitement as it brings with it three most entertaining minutes of the album.

Now what exactly is this song? And first of all, is it a song at all? Prasanna Shekhar's composed 'Jee Le' is so loud and tuneless that one gets a strong sense of aversion in the very first listening. Lyrics by Sajid-Farhad don't come with any sort of recollection value and the result is that this Vinod Rathod-Farhad Bhiwandiwala sung duet turns out to be the most forgettable inspiration from 'Ye Dosti' that any filmmaker/composer/singer/actor would have ever attempted.

Noise level continues to be at its unbearable worst with 'Dum' thankfully turning out to be the last song in the offering. Composed by Amar Mohile and written by Sharim Momin, Vinod Rathod rendered 'Dum' attempts at being at it's passionately challenging best but just doesn't leave any impression. What it leaves are a few scars on your ear drums and a strong headache!

Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag doesn't have a single track that could be a good contender for a Top-10 spot. Curiosity to hear the new version of 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' may find a few takers but beyond that the only two tracks that are reasonably tolerable are 'Cha Raha'' and to an extent 'Ruk Ja'. Other than these, it is just the theme music of 'Hai Aag Yeh' that boasts of boasts of nostalgic value. One only hopes that the effort gone in making the film is much bigger than the one which must have went into creating the soundtrack.

Shilpa to launch her own production house

Shilpa Shetty will launch her own production house 'S2 Productions' to make her DVD video on Yoga this month. To be shot from August-end for a week at the backwaters in Kerala, the Yoga DVD video, spanning two hours, will be directed by Manish Jha [of the critically acclaimed MATRUBHOOMI and ANWAR fame]. While Arghya Lahiri is writing the script for the video, the camerawork will be handled by Englishman Jamie Sowlds.

The DVD video will concentrate on Yoga, fitness and lifestyle and will be available in U.K. and Dubai to begin with. The distribution network is being finalized. To go with the mood and feel of the Yoga DVD, the package will also contain a free separate lounge music CD with tunes composed by Pankaj Awasthi.

Ravi Chopra has singed Tabu for his next venture Pappu Paas Ho Gaya, which will be an out and out comedy.

It is believed that Ravi Chopra was looking out for a sexy siren to play the role of a naughty lawyer in the film. The same role was offered to actresses like Mallika Sherawat, Sushmita Sen and Bipasha Basu. Confirming the news he adds, “I have signed Tabu for my next film Pappu Paas Ho Gaya. Tabu is a talented actress. She was my first choice as she is apt for this role.”

Pappu Paas Ho Gaya is the story of a lawyer, who fails for six years in Law School and ends up getting a murder case to fight. Along with Govinda, Lara Dutta and Tabu the film also stars Boman Irani, Rajpal Yadav and Satish Shah.

It is also believed that PPHG is a remake of the Hollywood film, My Cousin Vinny. Chopra refutes, “It’s not a remake but yes it is inspired by that film.” He plans to begin shoot for this by the end of August.

6 new promos with 'RGV Ki Aag'

Expect some surprises in RAMGOPAL VARMA KI AAG this Friday. While everyone’s curious to watch RGV’s interpretation of SHOLAY, there’re more surprises in store as you watch the film.

As many as four promos of various RGV productions have been included with the prints of RAMGOPAL VARMA KI AAG. These include SHABRI, GO, DARLING and SARKAR RAJ [the sequel to SARKAR]. That’s not the end of the story. Since Adlabs are partners in the project, the promos of two of their forthcoming films will also find a prominent place during the start/interval of the film: JOHNNY GADDAAR and DHOL.

Adlabs signs three film deal with Neil Mukesh

Neil Mukesh, son of singer Nitin Mukesh is all set to make his acting debut in Sriram Raghavan’s forthcoming film Johnny Gaddaar. Adlabs, presenter of Neil’s first film has also signed three other film deals with him.

Manmohan Shetty, the head honcho of Adlabs confirms, “Neil has signed a three film deal with us and Johnny Gaddaar is one of the films.” Neil has also worked as an assistant to Kunal Kohli under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

Neil says, “I have been signed by Adlabs for three films and my first film Johnny Gaddaar is part of the deal. I will be working on the other two projects, which are at the scripting stage now. Nothing has been finalized about those two films. I am concentrating on my debut film Johnny Gaddaar which is an action thriller and has shaped up really well. The film is set to release next month.”

Apart from the three films with Adlabs, Neil has been signed by Sudhir Mishra opposite Soha Ali Khan for his forthcoming film, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny?

After Hrithik Roshan, it’s Shah Rukh Khan’s turn to play superhero. The only difference is that King Khan is doing it only to win his lady love over in Farah Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’. “It’s a scene where Shah Rukh is trying to impress Deepika Padukone. He’s all dressed up as a superhero to woo her with some crazy stunts,” revealed a witness present on the sets during the shooting of the sequence.

Like most SRK romances where he does something to impress the heroine — right from ‘DDLJ’ to ‘Pardes’ to ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ — this scene is a comic one. While Superman goes ‘Up, up and away’ before taking off, our desi superhero prefers ‘Oodi Baba’. Apparently SRK so liked playing a goofy superhero that he did retake after retake just to repeat the experience. “Farah okayed the shot but Shah Rukh was enjoying the whole thing. He kept on doing retakes,” the witness added.

We all know film cans are expensive, but Farah let Shah Rukh have his way because he is producing the film. SRK’s other director Shimit Amin used up 1500 cans for ‘Chak De India’. Given King Khan’s enthusiasm for playing a superhero, don’t be surprised if ‘Krrish 2’ stars him instead of Hrithik. Oodi baba, now that’s a weird thought!

This council is the largest organization of global broadcasters with representatives from 50 countries on its board. It was chartered in 1969 with a mission to honor and encourage excellence in television programming outside the United States by presenting the international awards.

Salman surrenders before Jodhpur Court

After Jodhpur Session Court issued a non-bailable warrant against Salman Khan, the actor decided to surrender himself before Court. He has left for Jodhpur today.

Salman met all his family members and relatives before leaving for Jodhpur. He was in Mumbai when the session’s court in Jodhpur sentenced Salman to prison, for the 1998 poaching case.

A team from the Jodhpur police reportedly leaf to execute the warrant. Salman traveled by Jet airways with his brother, Sohail Khan. The Jodhpur police arrested him from the airport.

Salman's lawyers had informed that they would file a revision petition in the Rajasthan High Court, seeking suspension of the five year sentence and the hearing of his case on priority.

Sometimes interesting stories run out of steam if stretched beyond a point. That's the problem with KAISAY KAHEIN, directed by Mohit Hussein.

KAISAY KAHEIN looks at the problems faced by two young professionals in a metro. Sure, you identify with the storyline since you do come across people who think from the mind, not heart. In fact, the last sequence -- when the guy realizes that he may've attained the riches, but riches can't buy happiness -- moves you since it depicts a harsh reality. But KAISAY KAHEIN takes a long route to get to this point.

On the plus side, debutante director Mohit Hussein has handled a few complex sequences well. On the flip side, the narrative should've been shorter and crisper. The film needs to be judiciously trimmed by at least 20/25 minutes.

KAISAY KAHEIN is a love story that pits romance against career. Aditya [Raajveer] is a young banker with a bright future. At the age of 25, he's earmarked as the one most likely to climb into the COO's chair. He doesn't have a personal life except his work and is happy about it. Till Radhika [Neha Julka] steps into his life.

Movie Review: HEYY BABYY

When one sits on the fence and analyzes movies, passing scathing and acidic comments on all and sundry, be it films or those associated with it, the same people you'd targeted are bound to examine your film with a magnifying glass, when they get an opportunity.

Sajid Khan is known for his funny-n-witty repartees and in his first major project HEYY BABYY, he not only merges funny situations and emotional moments with aplomb, but also makes a compelling, wholesome film.

HEYY BABYY is not completely THREE MEN AND A BABY. Sure, you draw parallels since both THREE MEN AND A BABY and HEYY BABYY revolve around a trio of confirmed bachelors who unexpectedly discover the joys of fatherhood when a baby is left at their doorstep, but the similarities end there. In fact, the promos in this case don't open the cards completely. There's more to this film than masti-mazaak and the three men chasing girls of all shapes and sizes.

HEYY BABYY also works because the script is believable and the journey from Scene A to Z is well structured. Of course, there're minor aberrations, but the finale packs in a solid punch.

Sajid Khan is a skilled storyteller. Although he's known for impromptu, funny one-liners, it's the handling of the emotional moments in the enterprise that catches you by complete surprise. Note another aspect where a director makes all the difference: Akshay, Fardeen and Ritesh have been a part of comic capers in the past, but after having watched this trio in HEYY BABYY, not once do you feel that they're repeating themselves.

It's home turf for Shah Rukh and Farah as they have been on Koffee with Karan more than 4 times each! They jokingly remark, “We have been here almost as much as you”. Karan, Shah Rukh and Farah, who share an excellent camaraderie, have an absolute ball on the show, as they leave no opportunity to mock each other! Farah admits that marriage has changed her and has given her a new perspective in life! Karan and Farah reminisce some funny incidents while they were shooting for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and have a hearty laugh. Shah Rukh, on the other hand who is at his wittiest best and looking super cool with his new hairdo and well toned body tells Karan that he had promised Farah, if ever he would strip, it would be for her film! Speaking about Om Shanti Om, Farah and Shah Rukh keep their fingers crossed and are hoping that it lives up to its huge expectations! Joining them is the very beautiful Deepika Padukone who shares that she was nervous while shooting for Om Shanti Om but, Farah and Shah Rukh made her feel very comfortable. And when quizzed, if she was dating Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika expectedly replied the cliché, “We are friends.”

After the success of Chak De India, SRK's fans can't wait to see him again hitting the silver screen with the highly awaited film of the year Om Shanti Om. SRK leaves no stone unturned to make his fans happy. The promos of the film are scheduled to go on air from August 27 but his fans can catch a glimpse of it a day before, SRK's spokesperson, said, “The promos of Om Shanti Om will go on air on August 27, but a day before that, the promo will be played on Karan Johar's show Koffee with Karan”

Shah Rukh Khan and debutant actress Deepika Padukone would be making an appearance on the show. The buzz about SRK's advice to Deepika of not being accessible to the media and being out of Mumbai for two months is something irrelevant. SRK's spokesperson clarifies “I know I have read it somewhere, but its rubbish, she is very much here and you can get in touch with her anytime.”

Om Shanti Om is directed by Farah Khan. The film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan's production banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles.

‘Dhol – Kiska Bajega’ revolves around the lives of four friends – Sam (Tusshar Kapoor), Pakkya (Sharman Joshi), Maru (Rajpal Yadav) and Goti (Kunal Khemu). The guys are good for nothing with no motivation. But they’re bound together by their child-like notoriety and aimlessness. They all want to make it big in life with the least efforts possible. The four wish to live life on their own terms, leading everyone to nowhere. As a result, each one tries their hand at finding a short cut to success but ends up being in even deeper trouble instead. Things get worse as the four decide to take some desperate measures to end their misery once and for all.

According to them, the only way to get rich without working hard is to get married to a rich girl. Surprisingly, to unlock their fates, arrives the rich girl Kanchan (Tanushree Dutta) in their neighborhood. All four set out with their individual plans to marry Kanchan but end up discovering a spine-chilling truth.

This leads to much confusion, creating hilarious twists and turns, along with an element of thrill, crime, murder and suspense.

Now 'Heyy Babyy 2'?

Is Sajid Khan planning HEYY BABYY 2? That’s the buzz in the industry circles. Rumors are rife that Sajid is keen on repeating the cast of the film -- Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh -- in the sequel that he’s planning. The only change will be the leading lady.

True? “Milap Zaveri [the writer of HEYY BABYY] and I did mull over the idea. We knew that people would expect a sequel if the film works. But I want to try something new with my next film,” Sajid clarifies. But HEYY BABYY 2 would make wise business sense. “It would, but I look at it differently. If at all I attempt a sequel, I’ll have to show Akshay, Fardeen and Ritesh as 50 + age-wise, since the daughter would’ve grown up. Will they look convincing as older men? I doubt! This would be unacceptable to viewers,” he smiles.

So what’s next on the agenda? “I’ve already started working on a new script. All I can say right now is it will shock you,” he smiles.
